The Sexual Offences Handbook is a practitioner text containing all the law, practice and procedure in England and Wales since 1957. This blog aims to give an insight into the issues surrounding sex crime trials and an overview of matters set out in more detail in the book. We will endeavour to respond to news stories in this field as they unfold and plan to make the contents of this blog as international as possible.

Felicity Gerry is an international Barrister & media commentator. She is one of the foremost legal experts which broadcasters go to for media commentary and presentation of legal issues.
Felicity has spent the last 19 years specialising in sex, murder and fraud cases, appearing in court and advising on appeals and judicial review.
Her caseload includes international fraud, historic sexual abuse, rape and murder. She is regularly approached to speak on international issues including human trafficking & rape in conflict zones. She has pioneered treatment of vulnerable defendants & champions the position of women at the Bar.
Lyndon was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 2010.
He is the editor of Banks on Sentence, the book used by practitioners and judges for sentencing more than any other. He has appeared on BBC Breakfast, Channel 5 News and various BBC Radio stations to discuss and explain matters pertaining to sentencing. He has written for The Times and The New Statesman and is one of three barristers who established the UK Criminal Law Blog – a blog aimed at explaining the criminal law to lay people to combat poor and inaccurate law reporting by the mainstream media.
Catarina is an experienced, heavyweight criminal practitioner with a proven record in dealing with the most serious of offences. From the courtroom cut and thrust of multiple-defendant violence to the meticulous analysis of large volumes of complex case papers; the sensitive handling of vulnerable defendants/witnesses to the cold dissection and concise presentation of points of law; Catarina is a sought after, well regarded criminal practitioner.
Her practice includes serious sexual assaults (recent and historic), serious violence, child cruelty, death by dangerous/careless driving, drugs, cases involving victims and defendants with mental health problems and learning disabilities, trading standards matters and confiscation proceedings.
